A feature, commercial, scripted, reality or live show is a mammoth undertaking. Crews, schedules, budgets, long hours and vendors all coordinating to get the project on that screen. With the standard show essentially running on Google Sheets or Excel, housed on personal computers and every department entering their own staff and creating their own grids, despite all the balls in the air, the minds behind ShowGrids knew their had to be better way.
Planning
With the wealth of knowledge at the creators' fingertips, from every level of production, the team wanted to build a system that allowed information to finally be shared across departments without stepping on each other's toes. They wanted a system that avoided the redundant data entry and inherent possibility of mistakes. But most of all, in a business where 14 hour days are more often the norm than the exception, they wanted a system that worked smarter, not harder.
